Everyday benefits of space

Space exploration and research brings massive benefits to the country.

While manned missions tend to grab the headlines, most space work is actually focused on solving specific scientific problems or developing technologies that benefit everyone.

The UK, through BNSC, spends about £268 million a year on space, all of it on projects that will directly benefit UK businesses, consumers and scientists. We don't currently fund any manned space flight missions.

This section looks at how satellite-based technology has transformed our lives in fields as diverse as communication and environmental protection.
