Satellites allow us to monitor pollution, land use and climate on a national, regional and global scale. In the long term they enable scientists to make a reliable assessment of the impacts of human activity on the planet.

UK science and engineering teams are involved in many space missions to monitor the Earth’s environment. The UK is also a world leader in using information from satellites to better understand climate change.
